Wrong adhesive specification
Context: A tile contractor mid-install discovered the adhesive specified by the tile supplier was incompatible with the floor substrate — caught after half the floor was already set. They needed the correct product immediately to avoid pulling up completed work.
Observations: Described the spec mismatch as a sunk-cost trap: every minute of delay meant more tiles bonded with the wrong product. Called the Pro desk while still on their knees — remote guidance was faster than a store trip.
Push
Half the floor is already set with the wrong adhesive — every additional tile compounds the rework cost and timeline.
Pull
Pro desk guided the contractor to the correct adhesive over the phone while they were still on site — no wasted trip.
Anxiety
Every minute of delay means another tile bonded wrong — stopping costs time, continuing costs more.
Habit
Default is to call the adhesive manufacturer's technical line — but those calls go to voicemail during business hours.
